Maura Lenahan has a BFA in Metals and Jewelry from the Savannah College of Art and Design and was a CFDA+ recipient in 2014. Before completing her studies, Lenahan lived abroad in central France where she developed a passion for ancient adornment and techniques that still grounds her practice today. Each of her pieces is thoughtfully hand fabricated with all natural stones using traditional soldering, finishing, and stone setting techniques by the artist in her Chicago studio.
Every piece of jewelry is influenced by the innovation of thousands of years of artisan knowledge and cultural input. My jewelry seeks to highlight the continued importance of bench techniques by hand fabricating classic silhouettes of ancient adornment using modern influence and stone setting techniques.
Currently, Lenahan divides her time between the Lillstreet Art Center and Pistachios Art Jewelry Gallery in Chicago.
